The purpose of this presentation, “Basics of Waterproofing”, is to provide the design professional understanding of the types of traffic bearing waterproofing systems for concrete available in today’s marketplace.
Upon completion of the presentation the attendee will be able to define and answer the following learning objectives:
- Understand how cracks in concrete can cause steel corrosion leading to concrete deterioration.
- Define the characteristics of a waterproofing traffic bearing system.
- Compare the difference between waterproofing traffic bearing systems and other coating options.
- Explore various types of cracks, control joints, expansion joints and how to detail these conditions to maintain a waterproof structure.
